Our high quality barbell products are 100% Internally Threaded and provide your fresh piercing a smooth clean insertion. They are made from Certified Implant Grade Stainless 316 LVM or Certified Implant Grade Titanium. Internal threading means the threads are inside the bar which makes the outside surface smooth. Internal Barbells are also made with tighter fitting balls which helps eliminate bacteria build up. Our jewelry for use in new piercings meets ASTM and/or FDA designations for surgical implant grade materials. Documentation of independent lab biocompatibility testing is available to assure you that your jewelry is safe for prolonged wear in the human body.
The
majority of jewelry on the body piercing market does not adhere
to implant standards, leaving you to guess whether your shiny
stuff is toxic to wear in your body. Tolerance to a material
(no signs of adverse allergic reactions) can be misleading. A common method used in the industry to loosely discern jewelry quality was to try a material on, and if one did not get a rash or prominent reaction, assume that it was safe sort of like a patch test a dermatologist would suggest. We have gone far beyond all that to ensure the safety of our jewelry.
The
jewelry that we sell and use for long-term wear (greater than
24 hours) is certified for compliance with human implant standards
by independent laboratory tests. The material chemistry, mechanical
properties, crystalline microstructure and surface finish
have been scrutinized, tested and certified for human implant
applications, to ensure our jewelry is suitable to heal and
wear in a new piercing. Body jewelry should meet the same standards intended for human implant. They are sensible, applicable and achievable to ensure safety for insertion of objects into broken or intact skin in perforations of the human body. Most common body jewelry does not even come close to these specific standards for chemistry and surface finish. External
Threaded Barbells are
some of the most common bars you will find outside of professional
piercing studios. They are not always made of Implant Grade
Materials and are usually manufactured in other countries
where the quality control is somewhat lacking. A vast majority
of these products have small burs on the threads which can
cause serious damage to your fresh or healed piercing. We
do not recommend using this product in a fresh piercing but
rather as costume jewelry. The standards for costume and fine jewelry do not address the necessary chemistry for safe wear inside the body. Most of what is known only applies to superficial skin reactions. PIERCING PRICES
